The Texas Intensive Stage Combat Workshop (TXI) is seeking staff and faculty to join us for the 2022 workshop on Labor Day weekend, September 3rd & 4th.

 

All positions come with a paid stipend in accordance with their role provided at the end of the workshop.  

 

 

* TEACHING FACULTY *

 

The Faculty position is a paid teaching position at the TXI, teaching up to 3 classes each day of the workshop. We offer a number of programs and we ask our faculty to help us out: Intensives (6 hour speciality courses), traditional 75 & 90 min classes, the Starter Track, observing and providing feedback for Associate Instructors, and SPRs. 

 

To apply for a faculty position, please fill out the google form and attach the following documents: 3-5 class proposals (include title, brief description, level, weapons needs), a headshot and bio. Optional: Intensive proposal.  DEADLINE JUNE 1st!

 

All teaching faculty positions come with a stipend provided at the conclusion of the workshop. The workshop will also cover travel costs, provide housing, lunch and a small per diem.

 

* ASSOCIATE INSTRUCTOR *

 

The Associate Instructor position is a paid teaching assistant position that allows for at least one opportunity to teach a stage combat class at the workshop. Associate Instructors have all the same expectations as the Teaching Assistant position, as well as the additional responsibility of teaching at least one class. Those interested can choose to be a part of the TXI’s Associate Instructor Training Program, where you will receive feedback for the class(es) you teach at the workshop from a SAFD teacher. You will be paired with the instructor before the workshop in order to facilitate a positive feedback session. 

 

To apply for the Associate Instructor  position at the 2022 TXI, please fill out the google form and attach the following documents in one PDF: Two class proposals for 90 minute workshop classes, Resume, References (one of whom must be an SAFD teacher), Headshot and Bio.   DEADLINE JUNE 1st!

 

All Associate Instructor positions come with a stipend provided at the end of the workshop. The workshop will provide a travel stipend, housing, lunch, and a small per diem. 

 

* TEACHING ASSISTANT *

 

The Teaching Assistant position is a paid support staff position specifically for assisting teachers and associate instructors in the classroom. Teaching assistants are expected at all staff meetings, to connect with the teachers they will be assisting, and to have extensive knowledge of the skill of performing stage combat. Teaching assistants may be asked to do a number of classroom management functions in support of the teacher’s lesson plan.

All Teaching Assistant positions come with a stipend provided at the end of the workshop. The workshop will provide a travel stipend, housing, lunch, and a small per diem. 

 

* INTERN *

 

The intern position is a paid support staff position. This position requires, but is not limited to, arriving a day before the workshop to set up classroom spaces and armory, transport, clean and catalogue stage combat props, as well as remaining after the workshop for tear down, cleaning and returning of spaces and props. Interns will begin daily work prior to the rest of the workshop staff. Interns are generally expected at staff meetings. Additionally, Interns manage the movement and distribution of classroom props, support teachers in their classrooms with anything from partnering with students, keeping time, and other reasonable classroom management requests. An intern position is a first step toward classroom assistantship positions.
